From the Archives
The University of Winnipeg Archives and the United Church of Canada Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario Conference Archives housed at the University of Winnipeg, will showcase two exhibits in the spirit of reconciliation and in response to the TRC Calls to Action for Museums and Archives.
The Two-Spirited Collection consists of a selection of records that document the Indigenous Two-Spirit Movement in Manitoba and throughout North America. Through the stewardship of these records, the University of Winnipeg Archives hopes to assist Indigenous people in the ongoing decolonization process by proudly reclaiming this element of their history, culture, and spirituality.
Mary Bruce: Selected Photographs from Norway House 1929-1932 consists of a series of photographs taken while Bruce worked as a matron at Norway House Residential School circa 1929-1932. Her photographs provide a remarkable document of life at the school and in the larger community.
