Dr. Melanie Zurba
Research Associate with the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences
Dr. Melanie Zurba is a recent PhD graduate from the Natural Resource Institute at the University of Manitoba. Melanie is most interested in questions around equity and relationship building in governance systems. Her doctoral research focused on collaboration and reconciliation between First Nations and forestry companies in northwestern Ontario. She has explored collaborative governance systems through working with communities in Canada and Australia for the past 8 years and is developing future research that will focus on local and Indigenous participation as well as the intergenerational links that are important for developing global recommendations for protected areas. Melanie is currently working as a Research Associate with the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.
